IEEE Consumer Technology Society Standards Committee Activity:

“Standards June Forum 2023”

This is the first activity of CTSoc Standards Committee – “Standards June Forum 2023”, co-sponsored by IEEE CTSocTechnical & Educational Activities. The June Forum will be held in Nanfang College in Guangzhou, P.R. China. Members will share their experience and insights in the professional development. A forum discussion will then follow. Audience will learn about the visions and skills in standards development.

Biography

Raed Abdullah is a professional engineer in the electricity industry. He's been in practice for over 30 years and has been an active IEEE volunteer for a bit longer.  Presently, his most relevant role is IEEE CTSoc VP Industy and Standards Activities working closely with KF Tsang on the standards part.

Kim Fung Tsang obtained the Ph.D. degree from the University of Wales at Cardiff, UK. KF specializes in IoT and smart X applications. KF was the recipient of the Internet of Things Heros Award (by GS1 IoT Council) in 2016 and the 2021 IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society (PSES) Outstanding Achievement Award.

Tsang contributes to key IoT standards on smart sensors interfaces and IoT performance evaluation. He was grantedthe global IEEE 2668 Standard on Maturity Index of IoT in December 2022. KF is also the Chairman of theWork Group of smart sensors interface on IEEE P1451.5.5 LoRa, IEEE P1451.5.6SigFox and IEEE P1451.5.10NB IoT.He is also a consultant to the HK government EMSD on IoT standards and Best Practices.

KF is the Chairman of the Standards Committee, IEEE Consumer Technology Society. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics; an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics; an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial informatics; an Associate Editor of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine, the Editor (Electrical) of HKIE Transactions.

 

Haijun Zhang (SM'19) is currently a full Professor of Computer Science at the Shenzhen Graduate School, Harbin Institute of Technology, China. His current research interests include multimedia data mining, machine learning, computational advertising, and service computing. Prof. Zhang is currently an Associate Editors of IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, Neurocomputing, Pattern Analysis and Applications, etc.

Mr. Feng Gao received his B.S. degree in Software Engineering from

Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi'an, China, in 2007, and his

M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University,

Xi'an, China, in 2010. He is now the associate head at State Grid Xi'an Electric Power Supply Company, Xi'an, P.R. China. His research interests include computer vision, image processing, high voltage technology and standards development.

Jessie Guo graduated with a BS degree in Electronics as well as a Master degree MBA.

Jessie has more than thirteen years’ experience in international standards development organization and she is now the Regional Standards Manager of the UL Standards & Engagement. Jessie is a member of the Standards & Conformity Assessment of European Chamber of Commence in China, a member of the National Standards Technical Committee of Electrical Transportation Equipment, a member of the Intelligent Professional Committee of Shanghai Household Appliance Industry Association, and an expert of the Space and Emergency Response Collaborative Innovation Center, China Association for Disaster Prevention.

Chun Sing Lai received the B.Eng. (first-class Hons.) in electrical and electronic engineering from Brunel University London, London, U.K., in 2013, and the D.Phil. degree in engineering science from the University of Oxford, Oxford, U.K., in 2019.,He is currently a Lecturer with the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Brunel University London. His current research interests include in power system optimization and electric vehicle systems. Dr. Lai was the Publications Co-Chair for 2020 and 2021 IEEE International Smart Cities Conferences. He is the Vice-Chair of the IEEE Smart Cities Publications Committee and an Associate Editor for the IET Energy Conversion and Economics. He is the Working Group Chair for IEEE P2814 and P3166 Standards, an Associate Vice President, Systems Science and Engineering of the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society (IEEE/SMCS) and the Chair of the IEEE SMC Intelligent Power and Energy Systems Technical Committee. He was the recipient of the 2022 Meritorious Service Award from the IEEE SMC Society for meritorious and significant service to IEEE SMC Society technical activities and standards development. He is an IEEE Senior Member, IET Member, Chartered Engineer, and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
